Four-Day Fest Celebrates Shrimp Harvest

by S. Lynne on October 10th, 2012

The weather forecast — warm and sunny – couldn’t be better for this Thursday’s kickoff of the 41st annual National Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores. The popular event, named one of the best festivals in the Southeast by Southern Living magazine, features arts and crafts, a marketplace, live music on two stages, children’s activities, and, of course, lots of fresh shrimp. And best of all, admission is free!

Located on the beach, at the intersection of Highway 59 and Beach Boulevard, the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. For more information, go to www.nationalshrimpfestival.com.
