Annual Song Fest Brings Stars to Highway 30-A
Lucinda Williams, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Jeffrey Steele top an exciting line-up of more than 125 performers participating in this weekend’s Highway 30-A Songwriters Festival.
Williams penned “Passionate Kisses” in the 1980s, a song later recorded and made popular by Carpenter. The title earned Williams the Grammy for Best Country Song in 1994. She won another Grammy in 1998 for the album “Car Wheels on a Gravel Road.” Carpenter herself has won five Grammy Awards. And Steele has co-written more than sixty hit songs for such artists as Montgomery Gentry, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Rascal Flatts, and Billy Ray Cyrus.
Other well-known stars making appearances at the Highway 30-A Songwriters Festival include Nanci Griffith, Suzanne Vega, and Fastball. All will be performing their work at different venues — ranging from intimate restaurants to outdoor amphitheaters – this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, January 18, 19, and 20.
Produced by the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County and presented by Visit South Walton, the festival is now in its fourth year. Proceeds are used to fund the arts in Walton County.
General admission tickets for the three-day festival are $180 per person and offer access to more than 200 performances. For more information, go to www.30asongwritersfestival.com.
