Racing for a Good Cause

by Renee Taliaferro on September 21st, 2012

Okaloosa and Walton County students in grades K through 12 will be the real winners of the second annual Race for the Arts. Proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Kids’ Fun Run, sponsored by Destin’s Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation, will help fund the nonprofit foundation’s student educational outreach programs.

Registration for the race is open now, and runners can sign up through the morning of the race, scheduled for Saturday, November 3. It starts near the entrance of the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village and winds through scenic Kelly Plantation, a residential golf community. The course is flat and suitable for both beginning and advanced participants. A post-race celebration will include music, door prizes, beer, refreshments, massage therapy, and activities for the kids.

The registration fee is $20 per person for the 5K and $10 for the Fun Run. For more information, call the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation at 850-650-2226 or visit www.MattieKellyArtsFoundation.org..
