Learn How to Set Sail Safely
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s first boating safety class of the season will be held Saturday, March 30, at the Coast Guard Station Destin. Every year, the Auxiliary holds classes designed to qualify individuals to operate a boat legally and safely in Florida waters.
Topics to be covered include a general introduction to boating, boating law, boating safety equipment, safe boating practices, navigation, trouble-shooting, and trailering and storing a boat.
Cost of the class is $35 and includes a textbook, exam, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission safe boating identification card, lunch, a line handling and knots demonstration, a tour of the station, and a safety whistle.

On the day of the class, registration begins at 8:15 a.m., and the class runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Coast Guard Station Destin is at 2000 Miracle Strip Parkway.
