Sounds of the Beach

by The Hometown Tourist on October 12th, 2010

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about one of my favorite series of events that takes place here at the beach.   All along the coast from October-May, the orchestral sounds of Sinfonia Gulf Coast ring through the air.   Kicking off the season is Mary Wilson of the Supremes followed by Orchestral Holiday (one of my most favorite events) and other concerts including St. Patty’s Day Pops, a series of music performed by Irish instrumental ensemble.   With concerts throughout the fall and holiday season, Sinfonia draws concert goers of all ages.   Led by a talented Music Director and & Conductor, Demetrius Full, Sinfonia brings to the area classic symphony with a refreshing twist.   For more information on concerts and tickets, check out the Sinfonia website.

Thursday, November 11 – April 2011: ArtStrings Exhibit
artstrings
ArtStrings, a unique painted violin exhibit opens in Grand Boulevard with 24 hand-painted violins painted by some of the most accomplished artists in the region and beyond, including internationally renowned marine artist, Wyland. These artists are donating their work to support “Sinfonia’s Fifth,” the five-year anniversary of Sinfonia Gulf Coast, the area’s only professional symphony orchestra. The violins will be auctioned off at a gala event, “Celebrating Sinfonia’s 5th” held February 4 to raise funds for Sinfonia’s music education program. Though all 24 will be sold in a silent auction that night, the violins will remain on display at Grand Boulevard through April.   I found a few sneak peaks on their Facebook page.   Check out this eye candy:

Join me on your next beach vacation for a redefined symphonic experience for you and your family.   Can’t wait to see you there!
