Thursdays are set aside for patriotism, as a local hero is honored prior to a brilliant display of fireworks that can be seen from practically anywhere in the immediate area. Watching a World War II plane flyover, followed by the hundreds of exploding colors lighting up the sky and reflecting in the calm waters, is likely to be the most vivid experience of your stay in Destin. You’ll also want to be sure to take advantage of the free live entertainment and free kids’ crafts that are parts of the Thursday Red, White, and Blue Celebration.
