North meets South

by The Hometown Tourist on November 8th, 2010

I admit that I am a Southern Girl.   In fact, snow and all things cold-weather frighten me.   When it gets below 65 degrees, I start pulling out my wool sweaters and boots and prepare for hibernation.   It’s just part of being raised in the South but there is a part of me that, around the holidays, hopes to put on some hot cocoa and sit by my fireplace (if I had one!).   I figure the next best thing is when a few of those North holiday, cold-weather traditions migrates South for the winter.   Meet Baytowne on Ice. A portable, indoor ice rink that brings the cold-weather feeling to sunny Florida!   For $10, you can temporarily transport yourself (1.5 hours) to the cool air and festivities of the North.   And for a Southern Girl, this is about all I can handle.   I’ll turn in my skates and slip on my flip-flops and enjoy the rest of my sunny 70 degree weather.

Here are a few great places to stay around Baytowne Wharf, including Destin condo rentals.

Wish you were here!
